UNODC response to crimes that affect the environment extends from the crime scene to the courtroom, strengthening capacities to detect, intercept, investigate and prosecute crimes such as:
In addition to providing technical assistance to Member States to prevent and combat these crimes, UNODC approach also takes into account the convergence of these practices with transnational organized crime and other associated crimes, such as corruption, money laundering and trafficking in persons.
UNODC develops projects in partnership with federal and state institutions, strengthening capacities of actors in the justice system, security forces and public management, fostering inter-institutional cooperation and the exchange of good practices at the regional level, with a focus on the Amazon and border regions.
