Brasilia, 14 October, 2021 - The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), as part of the Track4TIP (T4T) project, presented the findings of the T4T Situational Report on trafficking in persons and migration in Brazil during the 16th Technical Meeting of the Network of State-Level Centers on Combating Trafficking in Persons (NETPs) and the Services of Humanized Migrant Assistance (PAAHMs), coordinated by the General-Coordination to Combat TIP and SOM of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (CGETP/MJSP).
Implemented in partnership with the National Secretariat of Justice of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil (MJSP/SENAJUS), the Track4TIP initiative is supported by the United States Department of State's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP).
The report analysed quantitative and qualitative data in order to highlight issues related to trafficking in persons and migration flows in Brazil. Data for the report was derived from consultations with 136 professionals from 99 different institutions, covering 22 of Brazil’s Federative Units. Up to date information on the dynamics of the crime, the profile of victims and the response of the justice system in the country were all included in the report.
