The Regional Anti-Corruption Platform for West Africa and the Sahel brings together anti-corruption practitioners from across the region, facilitating the sharing of experiences to fast-track the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. Given that countries from the same region often face similar challenges and may have already identified solutions, fostering ongoing collaboration among anti-corruption practitioners can advance anti-corruption efforts for all.
The platform was launched in November 2022 at a large-scale regional conference held in Dakar, Senegal, that resulted in the adoption of recommendations to fast-track the implementation of the Convention. A series of regional workshops have taken place since then, including workshops on the role of specialized bodies to foster financial investigations and asset recovery, whistle-blower protection and the integration of the gender dimensions in anti-corruption measures. In June 2024, a regional workshop was organized in Assinie, Côte d’Ivoire to follow up on progress in implementing the road map since the establishment of the platform. This workshop welcomed the contribution of a high number of UNODC platform partners, including several French authorities, the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
