Brasilia, 22 October, 2021 - The United Nations turns 76 years old amid the biggest challenges the world has seen in decades. To talk about the future we want to build post-pandemic and what we need to do collectively to achieve it, UN Brazil holds, on October 25, an online debate on the paths to recovery from the pandemic of COVID-19.
The event will be opened by the UN Resident Coordinator in Brazil, Silvia Rucks, and the Secretary of National Sovereignty and Citizenship Affairs of the Ministry of External Relations, Ambassador Paulino Franco de Carvalho Neto.
To celebrate the 76th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations, UN Brazil will hold on 25 October (Monday) an online debate on the theme Recovery from the pandemic of COVID-19: solidarity and union for a better world. The event will be mediated by journalist Aline Midlej and is open to the public, with broadcasting on YouTube by UN Brazil.
To talk about the future we want to build post-pandemic and what we need to do collectively to achieve it, the UN invited experts to discuss some of the most urgent challenges of today: education, food and climate crisis.
Participating in the debate are the president of the National Education Council, Maria Helena Guimarães de Castro; nutritionist and member of the Black Women's Network for Food Sovereignty and Security and Nutrition (Redessan), Beatriz Blackman; lawyer and co-founder of the South American Network for Environmental Migration, Erika Pires Ramos; and Francine Lemos, executive director of System B, a global community of business leaders who use their businesses to build a more inclusive and sustainable economic system.
The event will be opened by the UN Resident Coordinator in Brazil, Silvia Rucks, and the Secretary of National Sovereignty and Citizenship Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Paulino Franco de Carvalho Neto.
