16 May 2024, Karachi The Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU), in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), organized a three-day workshop focused on the Development and Utilization of Financial Intelligence for officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and prosecutors of Balochistan.
Held at the FMU Karachi Office, the training aimed to empower newly inducted Investigation Officers and prosecutors with essential skills to effectively detect and investigate terrorism financing cases.
Enhancing Financial Intelligence Capabilities
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the receipt and analysis of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) from reporting entities, developing actionable financial intelligence, and its strategic application in terrorism-related investigations.
With the support of eight expert resource persons from FMU, the State Bank of Pakistan, and leading private banks, the training highlighted cooperation, financial investigative techniques, and practical use of platforms like goAML.
