03 December 2013, Islamabad: As a lead up to the upcoming Anti-Corruption Day on (December 2013, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Pakistan organized a essay writing competition among children and youth aged 10 - 22 years old from twenty seven schools and tertiary institutions in Pakistan. The competition was held at the NAB's Regional Office in Islamabad.
The essay topic "Prevention of Corruption is a Must for Development" saw these children and youth presenting essays on issues revolving around the causes of corruption and its national and international impact. The presenters also shared recommendations for corrective measures for the citizens of Pakistan to undertake.
A panel of judges, including Collie Brown, Criminal Justice Advisor, reviewed the essays and presentation and selected the top three in two categories. They will be recognised during an official event on 9 December 2013 observing International Anti-Corruption Day.
The competition is the first of a weeklong series of joint events sponsored by UNODC and NAB in the lead up to International Anti-Corruption Day.
