ROLE OF UNODC |
PROGRESS |
Since June 2018, UNODC has obtained the appointment of focal points for each of the States that endorse the Niamey Declaration. The permanent follow-up mechanism is currently composed of 19 focal points officially designated by each of the participating States (Burkina Faso, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, France, Gambia, Germany, Guinea, Italy, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Netherlands, Portugal, Senegal, Spain and United Kingdom), which will act as entry entities in each country. In addition, ECOWAS, the Permanent Secretariat of the G5 Sahel and the European Union have also appointed a focal point. The permanent follow-up mechanism remains open to any State or international organization/entity wishing to endorse the Declaration of Niamey, as long as the candidacy is approved by the participating States...
