In its resolution 7/1, entitled "Strengthening the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Protocols thereto", the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime decided that the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons will be a constant element of the Conference.

On 2 October 2023, on the margins of the 13th meeting of the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons, a diverse pool of experts reflected on child trafficking, highlighted the magnitude of the problem, spotlighted the challenges that child victims of trafficking face, and encouraged States and relevant stakeholders to do more to prevent child trafficking and protect and support child victims of trafficking.
