To facilitate input from young people on preventing and countering transnational organized crime, UNODC has organized a Youth Consultation on 10 October 2024 preceding the 12th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP12 UNTOC, 14-18 October 2024). The Consultation has facilitated a discussion between UNODC and youth actors and youth-led/youth-focused stakeholders with community-based experience on preventing and countering transnational organized crime.
The consultation focused on topics relevant to COP12 UNTOC such as crimes that affect the environment, organized fraud, and the dual nature of technology as means of and tool against organized crime. Outcomes of the consultation were presented to Member States during COP12 UNTOC.
Following an open call for applications 55 youth representatives from across the world have participate in the Youth Consultation in-person and online.
