The UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking (UNVTF), established by the General Assembly and managed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), is pleased to announce the results of its eighth Call for Proposals (CfP) under sub-grant programme one (SGP1) aiming to support high-impact interventions of experienced frontline civil society organizations (CSO) aiding human trafficking victims in South Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa.
After a thorough review of eligibility and technical assessment on a total of 110 received proposals, 29 projects across 16 countries have been selected for grants of up a total of USD 575,000. Grantees will receive up to USD 20,000 to support implementation of proposed projects assisting victims of human trafficking.
Priority was given to projects that primarily focus on women and children and those most left behind, including underserved groups, especially excluded or disadvantaged victims of human trafficking. The selected projects also address the desperate need of victims in conflict areas.
The UNVTF provides multi-year grants to global CSOs that offer victim-centred, comprehensive support, and humanitarian aid to survivors of human trafficking. These newly selected projects are expected to assist more than 4,900 direct beneficiaries. In total, since 2011, the Trust Fund has supported over 190 projects in over 60 countries, providing tangible support to over 90,000 victims of human trafficking.
