THE UNITED NATIONS VOLUNTARY TRUST FUND

AN INTEGRAL COMPONENT OF A GLOBAL EFFORT TO ADDRESS TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

The United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children was established in 2010 within the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons, in line with the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, supplementing the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.

As the first global legally binding instrument to protect and assist the victims of trafficking with full respect for their human rights, the Protocol frames the specific efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking, as well as to reinforce the implementation of existing instruments and promote cooperation among States Parties.

	USD 7 million in contributions from a wide range of supporters, as of December 2019.
	Over 3,000 individuals directly supported every year through its NGO partners.
	grants up to US$ 60,000 provided to NGOs in three-year grant cycles.

	Grants disbursed to over 60 NGO projects, totalling USD 3.5 million for projects in over 40 countries during the first, second and third grant cycles.
	USD 2 million committed to support grassroots non governmental organizations.
	Access to justice, legal advice and assistance, including legal representation for victims to obtain legal status, compensation and/or aid packages.

13/08/2019 - 3 More NGOs Selected for Third Grant Cycle-28 NGOs in Total
The Trust Fund is proud to announce that 3 more NGOs have been selected in its third grant cycle: National Association of the Albinos of Senegal, Peace Trust in India, and Willow International in Uganda, thanks to the generous support of our partners. In total 28 projects have been providing essential assistance and protection to trafficking survivors in 24 countries. [Click here to read the Press Release]

20/05/2019 - The Trust Fund and Blue Heart Campaign organized A High-Level Event for the 28th Session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ)
Co-sponsored by the Governments of Belgium, France, Sweden and Italy, the high-level event focused on UNODC's flagship Blue Heart Campaign (BHC) and the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking (UNVTF), which supports 3000 trafficking victims every year through its NGO partners. The event commenced with a Signing Ceremony, where nine Member States announced their commitment to joining the global awareness-raising initiative in the fight against human trafficking and its impact on society.The work of the Trust Fund highlighted the achievements and lessons learned from its third grant cycle. Experiences from Nigeria and Italy showcased good practices in providing direct assistance to women and girl victims of trafficking, with the aim of helping survivors rebuild their lives. 05/04/2019 - Belgium announces EUR 2 million contribution to the Trust Fund
The Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations in Vienna, Ghislain d'Hoop, today met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yury Fedotov, to announce a two-million Euro contribution to the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking. At the meeting, Mr. Fedotov also announced the results of the Trust Fund's third grant cycle for its Grants Programme. 25 specialized NGOs and grassroots organizations that provide critical assistance and protection to trafficking survivors globally have been selected in 23 countries.
