The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign that raises awareness and galvanizes action to end violence against women and girls. Spanning from 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to 10th December, International Human Rights Day, this annual campaign reminds us that a brighter, violence-free future is within our reach.
This year’s theme, “Every 10 Minutes, a Woman is Killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women”, powerfully aligns with UNODC’s mission to build safer, more just societies.
This year, UNOV/UNODC will join the global campaign through several events, advocacy campaigns and other initiatives.
A key highlight will be the launch of the Global Femicides Report - on 25th November, UNODC and UN Women will release the Femicides in 2023 Global estimates of intimate partner/family member femicides, shedding light on this urgent issue.
UNODC staff and the public are invited to take part in events, engage in discussions, and spread awareness:
