2023 Thematic Discussions on the Implementation of All International Drug Policy Commitments, Following-up to the 2019 Ministerial Declaration

Multiyear Workplan 2019-2023: Implementation of all our international drug policy commitments, following up to the 2019 ministerial declaration “Strengthening Our Actions at the National, Regional and International Levels to Accelerate the Implementation of our Joint Commitments to Address and Counter the World Drug Problem”

In preparation for the 2024 Midterm Review, the Commission will conduct in 2023 a comprehensive stock-taking of progress made in implementing all international drug policy commitments to address the challenges identified in the 2019 Ministerial Declaration. The thematic discussions will consist of two intersessional meetings - the first one will take place from 23 to 25 October 2023 and the second one from 4 to 6 December 2023. Each half-day will be devoted to one specific challenge, as per the below:

The thematic discussions will be held in English only. The morning meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Vienna time), and the afternoon meetings from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The thematic discussions will be organized in two parts for each challenge:

Two introductory presentations by UNODC followed by a Q&A session
Guided discussion led by the Chair with interventions from the floor
