Scaling Up the Implementation of International Drug Policy Commitments on Improving Availability of and Access to Controlled Substances for Medical and Scientific Purposes – Building Back Better from the COVID-19 Pandemic #NoPatientLeftBehind

On 8 June 2022, 1:15 p.m. New York time (EDT), at the margins of the 2022 Economic and Social Council Management Segment, the Chair of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) at its 65^th session, H.E. Ambassador Ghislain D'Hoop, held an event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to raise awareness for the international drug policy commitments on improving availability and access to controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes.

The event was co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of Austria and Belgium to the United Nations (New York) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) New York Office, and included participation from an array of United Nations entities and international partners. The event focused on the critical need to improve availability and access to controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes, to build back better from the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure no patient is left behind. #NoPatientLeftBehind
