A special commemorative event of the sixty-third session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, devoted to the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, will be held virtually on Friday, 26 June 2020, starting at 2:00 p.m., Vienna Time (CEST). On this occasion, the World Drug Report 2020 will be launched, followed by a discussion on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the world drug situation, from a regional perspective, co-sponsored by the EU and UNODC.
The Special Event will take place as a virtual event.

26 June 2020 marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter. To commemorate this important anniversary, the Executive Director of UNODC opened the CND Special Event with remarks in her capacity as Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, and H.E. Mr. Alexander Schallenberg, Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs spoke for the Host Country.
Presented in six separate booklets, the World Drug Report 2020 provides a wealth of information and analysis to support the international community in implementing operational recommendations on a number of drug policies issues, including the recommendations contained in the outcome document of the special session of the 2016 General Assembly on the world drug problem, held in 2016.
