In line with recommendations of the 12 th meeting of the Regional Working Group on Precursors (RWGP), the UNODC Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries (Regional Programme) convened a Precursor Case Meeting (PCM) on 22 October 2019 in Almaty (Kazakhstan) with participation of precursor control officers from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, United Arab Emirates and People's Republic of China as well as representatives from INCB and UNODC.
The meeting was focused on reviewing concrete investigation cases of major precursor chemical seizures. Participants shared specific details on major cases of precursors seizures, and agreed to coordinate their efforts on conducting effective backtracking investigations aimed at discovering the routes and modus operandi of criminal groups involved in precursors trafficking in the region.
Participating countries have acknowledged the importance of the Precursor Case Meeting as an important communication and information platform in the region and confirmed their readiness for joint actions and information sharing on reviewed cases of precursors seizures.
UNODC thanked the European Union and Finland for funding this important activity and INCB for providing expert support.
