UNODC strengthens the capacity of law enforcement officers of Turkmenistan in combating drug trafficking
On 7-9 September 2020 within the framework of the Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries Sub-programme 1, UNODC POTKM conducted an online training course on the "Methods of countering drug trafficking and money laundering obtained as the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking" for law enforcement officers of Turkmenistan.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, the online course was organized instead of the annual mobile training under the project “UNODC-Russia Partnership on Counter-Narcotics Training for Central Asia, Afghanistan and Pakistan” (Phase IV).
The training was conducted by the instructors and jointly with the Siberian Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
A total of 19 law-enforcement officers of Turkmenistan participated in the training, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Customs Service and State Border Service. The course aimed at strengthening the capacity of law-enforcement officers to combat illicit drug trafficking.
As a result of the training participants enhanced their knowledge in investigation of crimes related to drug trafficking, search operations and use of information technologies in countering drug trafficking.
UNODC thanks the Government of the Russian Federation for the support in organizing the training.
