UNODC assists in enhancing capacity of forensic laboratories of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

Sub-programme 1 of the UNODC Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighbouring countries is working to support and develop the forensic capacity of member states through training and provision of IT and specialized forensic equipment.
Thanks to funds from the European Union, the Regional Programme has completed procurement of required IT equipment for the forensic laboratories of the Drug Control Agency and Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Furthermore, to meet the needs of forensic laboratories as well as to support their efforts on conducting drug tests in line with international quality standards, the UNODC Regional Programme has procured essential spare parts for specialized equipment - Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) used by two forensic laboratories of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
During the hand-over ceremonies the national counterparts stated that procurement of such equipment and important spare parts was crucial for their work and will strengthen the capacity and improve the efficiency of forensic laboratories.
