The UNODC Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries collaborates with the Global Container Control Programme to identify high-risk consignments

An Interregional Meeting with the participation of the Heads of Customs Administrations and officials from eight countries in the region was convened in Tbilisi, Georgia on 18 July 2017. The meeting was organized under the UNODC Global Container Control Programme (CCP) and supported by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries.
The Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries supported the participation of delegations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan at this meeting as well as the operational related meeting in Almaty (April, 2017).
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the CCP achievements in the region and its priorities for the coming year. Additionally, the Heads of Customs Administrations agreed to strengthen regional and international cooperation to identify high-risk consignments, while also approving a regional operation plan, which will be carried out in the fourth quarter of 2017.
