Regional Working Group on Forensic Capacity and Illicit Drugs (RWGFD)

The Regional Working Group on Forensic Capacity and illicit Drugs (RWGFD) brings experts of Forensic Laboratories together with counter-narcotics investigators of law enforcement agencies in order to review investigation cases, share information and identify possible means to develop cooperation on the target cases. The first meeting of the RWGFD was conducted on 23 and 24 April 2015 and the second meeting on 18 and 19 May 2016 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
During the second meeting, further to making presentations on the drug situation in their respective countries, the participants drafted a plan for a regional operation on synthetic drugs and new psycho-active substances, which was called as Operation REFLEX ( REgional Forensic and Law enforcement EXercise). The operation coordination center was determined to be the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center (CARICC). The next meeting of the RWGFD is planned to be conducted in CARICC on 9 and 10 November 2016.
A briefing for the Operation REFLEX is planned to take place on 11 November 2016 in CARICC. The period of this operation will be announced by CARICC through confidential communication channels.
