ABOUT US
The Regional Programme Office in Panama (RPOPAN) was inaugurated in June 2010 with the goal of providing better service to the Member States of the region, which were previously served by the UNODC regional office in Mexico.
Due to new challenges in the region, RPOPAN became the Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean in Panama (UNODC ROPAN) in March 2012.
ROPAN incorporates UNODC's core principles to develop strategies and programs at the national, regional, and inter-regional levels, designed to support governments in various sectors related to the UNODC mandate, while also aiming to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
This regional office manages a broad portfolio of projects focused on areas such as prison reform, airport security and container control, human trafficking and migrant smuggling, drug demand reduction, organized crime, research and trend analysis, citizen security, and corruption.
