VIENNA, 8 September (UNODC) - The head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime will outline his views on the way forward for Afghanistan after the record 2006 opium harvest at a news conference in Brussels on Tuesday, September 12.
UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa will be joined by Afghan Counter-Narcotics Minister Habibullah Qaderi at 1030 in the Passage Room at the International Press Centre (Residence Palace, Rue de la Loi 155).
Mr Costa will present details of the Afghan opium survey, which showed opium cultivation soaring by 59 percent in 2006.
