The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have joined forces to engage tourists in the global fight against the illicit trafficking of persons, wildlife or cultural artefacts.
UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai, UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov, and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, will co-chair the event and highlight the role of the United Nations in driving this issue.
Key confirmed panellists include the chair of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics and former Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy, the Executive VP & Chief Global Communications & Public Affairs Officer, Marriott Hotels International, Kathleen Matthews and Alex Alt, President, Sabre Hospitality Solutions.
