The progressive geographic expansion of the program seeks to address the diversification and interconnectedness of organised crime by supporting countries who have a strategic position along the illicit supply chains in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Africa

Cabo-Verde, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, Togo, The Gambia, Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, South Africa, and Mozambique

Latin America and the Caribbean

Dominican Republic, Panama, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago

CRIMJUST participating countries are selected as per the following criteria:

Geo-strategic importance as source or transit countries along illicit trafficking routes;
Identified vulnerabilities and significant gaps, created and/or exacerbated by organised crime activities;
A need for stronger technical capacity to enhance law enforcement and criminal justice interventions and strategies to progress transnational organised crime cases;
A need to further integrate target country in formal and informal police and criminal justice networks to streamline intelligence sharing, cross-border evidence gathering, criminal justice cooperation requests, and other actions as part of disruptive strategies;
Opportunities for complementarity and synergies with other projects of the Global Illicit Flows Programmes.
