Since 2012, the UNODC Youth Initiative has connected young people from all over the world to provide youth with the opportunity to learn about evidence-based prevention, and inspire youth to get involved in their communities, schools, and youth organisations for substance use prevention and health promotion.
As we wind down on our activities with the Youth Forum 2023 and start the new cycle for Youth Forum 2024, we are delighted share with you the Youth Forum 2023 outcome document(please click here) and a special highlights video (please click here), which gives you a glimpse into the dynamic events that unfolded over the course of three days, full of energy and enthusiasm from youth participants. The highlights video also captured the inspiring moment in which youths delivered their joint statement during the Plenary session of the 66th Session of Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
Invigorated with the in-person, youthful presence of participants on the grounds of the Vienna International Center, we were reminded again of UNODC’s commitment in working with and for youth, and empowering youth to support their peers and the next generation in shaping a better world. And after the Youth Forum 2023, the Youth Initiative continued to work with active youth alumni and supported their initiatives by promoting their work and perspectives through various Youth Action articles.
But every ending has a new beginning: UNODC is now laying the groundwork for the Youth Forum 2024 and is delighted to announce that the call for youth nominations is now open for next year’s event. For active young leaders who want to participate in the Youth Forum 2024, please note that youth candidates need to be nominated by each country’s Permanent Mission and undergo a selection process to be selected as the final participant. Nominations are going on NOW, so if you’re interested, hustle up and get in touch with relevant government organizations, schools, or civil societies who may be associated with the nomination process of your country!
We look forward to welcoming active young leaders as participants for the Youth Forum 2024, and continuing to provide valuable opportunities of learning, interacting, engaging, and being inspired for more.
