The decade celebration of the UNODC Youth Initiative was the driving force behind the launch of the Youth Action website, and we continue to focus on achievements and accomplishments on youth empowerment, substance use prevention and health promotion. We also bring to your attention, that the DAPC Grants Programme will also soon be celebrating a milestone, as 2023 will mark the 30th year of the Drug Abuse Prevention Center (DAPC)’s fund-raising efforts to support NGOs to implement youth-centred drug use prevention projects. DAPC has been raising these funds since 1993 and began cooperative efforts with UNODC since 1994.
Youth from DAPC (based in Japan) mobilizes communities and raises funds that to support youth-centered activities to prevent drug use in low and middle-income countries. Truly a ‘from youth, to youth, for youth’ initiative, the DAPC grants aim at empowering, helping and connecting young people to create a positive change in prevention, health promotion and youth empowerment in their communities and schools.
To celebrate the long-term support and great initiatives accomplished through various organizations from around the world, we’ve introduced a new website dedicated to DAPC, featuring achievements made through the support from the DAPC grants. The new website allows the reader to get a deeper insight into the success story of the various DAPC grantees as well as the regions of the world that have benefited from the grants. Throughout the years, the DAPC-funded projects have left footprints all over the world.
If you’re interested in becoming part of the inspiration, take a look at the new website to familiarize yourself with its background, objectives, and eligibility of applicants. The next round of Call for Proposals will be announced in early 2023, so stay tuned for updates! We look forward to officially ringing in the 30th year anniversary of DAPC’s own fund-raising efforts to aid others in need worldwide. We express our gratitude to the generous annual donations from DAPC, through which UNODC is able to support drug use prevention and youth empowerment in many countries around the world.
