In 2022, UNODC continued to raise awareness about ‘Listen First’ and expand its use. Member States and organizations continue to translate and incorporate the material into their prevention programs and activities, with nearly twice as many translations completed in 2022 compared to the year before.
As of today, ‘Listen First’ has been used in over 16 countries on 5 continents, and has been translated into 11 languages, with 12 more countries currently translating and planning for nationwide activities in 2023.
Activities were conducted in countries ranging from Tanzania, Slovenia, Finland, Malaysia, to the Dominican Republic.
‘Listen First’ was presented at CND side events and in webinars hosted in collaboration with key international networks, in 2022. ICUDDR, ISSUP, and Movendi International all dedicated webinars to ‘Listen First,’ reaching large numbers of NGOs, Member States, and professionals in the field of prevention worldwide. In addition, Proyecto Hombre, the largest NGO in Spain on substance use prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment, featured ‘Listen First’ in its magazine “Revista Proyecto”, reaching some 127,000 readers.
The ‘Listen First’ videos have over 100,000 views on YouTube, nearly 1,5 million views on Facebook, and over 300,000 impressions on Twitter.
Using Listen First in 2023
In the coming year, 2023, UNODC will continue to make ‘Listen First’ available to Member States and partners interested in translating and using the material in their work.
