UNODC supported SALW workshop co-organized by UNODA and RACVIAC
UNODA co-organized a workshop in collaboration with RACVIAC, focused on the Programme of Action and the International Tracing Instrument. The event unpacked the commitments made during the Fourth Review Conference and explored critical developments in the field of small arms and light weapons.
On 19 September 2024, UNODC supported the workshop by presenting an overview of its mandates and activities, pressing challenges posed by 3D printed firearms and affiliated legislative challenges. During the presentation, insights from UNODC’s Working Group on Firearms were also shared, along with recommendations aimed at effectiveness in firearms regulation and countering firearms-related criminality.
In addition, UNODC's support to North Macedonian authorities in amending its Criminal Code was presented to the participants. This crucial initiative resulted in criminalization of the possession and dissemination of blueprints for 3D printed firearms, addressing a significant gap in criminal legislation.
