Drug Precursors Training for Port Control Unit Bijaca, Bosnia and Herzegovina
12-15 September 2023, Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Responding to the host country agencies request for enhancing specific technical assistance, the United Nations office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) within the Passenger and Cargo Border Team (PCBT) in partnership with the World Customs Organization (WCO), organized a Drug Precursors Training for the frontline customs and police officers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The training aimed to enhance capacities of the law enforcement officers to identify and prevent trafficking of drug precursors including through the identification of drugs, precursors, and chemicals, as well as methods for the interception of precursors and the most recent trends in the trafficking of precursors along the Balkan Route and around the world. The theoretical material was put into practice through a hands-on exercise that was carried out in the port of Ploče, in cooperation and with assistance from the Customs Administration of the Republic of Croatia.
The training was implemented in cooperation with WCO and Slovenian Customs, as well as the expert support provided by the officials of the Federation BiH Police Administration - Centre for Forensic Analysis, Examinations and Research and experts from the Custom Administration of the Republic of Croatia.
The training was delivered within the EU-UNODC joint action on enhanced border control, currently implemented in South Eastern Europe by the Passenger and Cargo Border Team (AIRCOP & CCP) in cooperation with the and the UNODC Regional Programme for South Eastern Europe with the funding from the European Union.
