Development of Practical Guides for Increasing Asset Recovery supported by UNODC

23 May 2023, Pristina, Kosovo[1]: UNODC hosted a bilateral workshop for Kosovo and Albania, to support the authorities in strengthening their capacity for asset recovery by developing Fast Action Response Guides (FARGs) as a tool to assist police and prosecution in addressing asset recovery at the earliest stages of the criminal investigation.

FARGs are intended provide the relevant national and local authorities with an overview of the legal and operational elements that need to be considered to conduct criminal investigations and asset recovery. Once officially approved, the fast action response guides will be used by practitioners for training and capacity building purposes, as well as a reference during investigations.

The three-day discussions and mutual exchange of experiences between 26 experts from law enforcement and prosecution, Ministries of Justice, Financial Intelligence Units and other relevant bodies, resulted in the finalization of the draft guides.

The meeting was organized in the framework of the Regional Anti-Corruption and Illicit Finance Roadmap under the UNODC Regional Programme for South-Eastern Europe and with the generous support of the UK Government.
