Training on equipment for narcotics’ detection delivered in Bosnia and Herzegovina
27-30 June 2023, Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Responding to the request of the implementing partner in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the needs identified during programme implementation in 2022, the UNODC Passenger and Cargo Border Team (PCBT) organized an X-Ray image interpretation training in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the officers assigned to the inter-agency units deployed at the land and air borders in the country.
The training was delivered in the format 3+1 workdays (theoretical and practical), the practical day being conducted at the Customs Terminal Gradiška. The training was planned and implemented in cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the German Customs who provided the main trainer from the Scanner Profiling Unit at the Port of Hamburg.

The trainees also practiced image reading using a specific image manipulation programme and analyzed various elements of images (commodities, shapes, structures, etc.) as well as the use of various functions and filters.
The training was delivered within the EU-UNODC joint action on enhanced border control, currently implemented in South-Eastern Europe by the Passenger and Cargo Border Team in cooperation with the UNODC Regional Programme for South Eastern Europe and funded by the European Union.
