Combating Low-Scale Corruption in North Macedonia
18 August 2023, Skopje, North Macedonia: UNODC with the support of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement and the US Embassy in North Macedonia launched the project "Combating Low-Scale Corruption in North Macedonia". The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of judges, prosecutors, and investigators in North Macedonia to uncover, investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate low-scale corruption.
The specific objective of the project is to assist the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors in developing and implementing a standardized, sustainable, and institutionalized anti-corruption training program for judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officers. As part of the initial phase of project implementation, UNODC organized a meeting with the national counterparts to discuss the objectives, key topics, modules, and core content for the training program that will be used in the yearly teaching curriculum of the Academy in relation to combating low-scale corruption in North Macedonia.
The Director of the Academy opened the meeting and thanked the donors and UNODC for their support and highlighted the importance of the project and the benefits for the trainees by developing such a program. This training program is intended to form an integral part of the Academy plan for initial and continued legal education for a full academic year and part of the Academy’s long-term catalogue for future training.
