Action Plan on Asset Recovery signed in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

30 August 2022, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina: UNODC and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Agency for Management of Seized Assets signed an Asset Recovery Action Plan, agreeing on technical assistance activities to improve asset recovery processes until the end of 2022. The Action Plan was signed as part of a project to assist the Western Balkan countries in seizing and recovering criminal proceeds, as well as to reinforce the message that crime does not pay.

The action plan provides an overview of the current challenges in effectively implementing asset recovery processes, as well as a roadmap for overcoming these challenges. This will be accomplished through targeted training, strengthening the legal and strategic frameworks in line with relevant international practices and standards, and increasing the capacity of institutions in FBiH and throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These activities are part of the regional project "From Illicit Financial Flows to Asset Recovery", implemented with the generous support of the UK government and carried out within the framework of the UNODC Regional Programme for South Eastern Europe.

This activity contributes to SDG 16, particularly Target 16.4 to significantly reduce illicit financial and arms flows, strengthen the recovery and return of stolen assets and combat all forms of organized crime.
