Global Action for Business Integrity - SIEMENS
The project is a partnership between the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Siemens Integrity Initiative of Siemens AG and seeks to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to prevent and counter corruption by strengthening the legislative framework, public-private cooperation, and private sector integrity in Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan from July 2021 until June 2024.
In Brazil, UNODC and Siemens count with the support of the following stakeholders and partners: Public Sector anti-corruption bodies, such as the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), Public sector associations, companies, small and medium enterprises, academia and the civil society.
For the Private sector, the Global Action for Business Integrity project seeks to assist companies in developing their own responses against corruption through practical guidance, training, and orientations.
For the Public sector, the project aims to bolster governmental knowledge on the legislative framework and best practices to counter corruption in partnership with private actors. For the civil society, workshops and training to promote collective involvement in anti-corruption initiatives are a central pillar. For academia, the project plans to encourage the adoption of education materials about corruption and integrity in university courses. In Brazil, these initiatives have taken place in four main levels: Lobby, biddings, small and medium enterprises, and communication.
Through the guiding recommendations of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), the project outlines priorities based on national plans and programs, such as the Anti-Corruption Plan (2020) of the Office of the Controller General (CGU). UNCAC provides a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary framework to prevent and counter corruption by advancing legislative reforms, increasing governmental intelligence of the legal framework, and enhancing communication among these four sectors: The public sector, the private sector, civil society, and academia.
