During the International Youth Day Celebrations, UNODC Youth hosts 700 youth at a breakout session on, ‘The role of Education in Peace, Justice and Integrity’ at the UN Office in Nairobi.
Nairobi, 9 August 2019 - As part of this year’s International Youth Day under the theme “transforming education,” UNODC ROEA’s Youth organized a breakout session during the UN’s day of celebrations on Friday, 9 August. The breakout session, “The Role of Education in Promoting Peace, Justice and Integrity” attracted an audience of close to 700 young people and an all-youth panel with an interactive discussion focused on UNODC’s Education for Justice (E4J) initiative. The breakout session was opened by powerful remarks by the UNODC ROEA’s Deputy Representative, Ms. Sylvie Bertrand. She emphasized the importance of investing in youth, ‘We need to address the skill deficit of young people and build the capacity of youth using life skills.
