You are cordially invited to join the 2024 Vienna Discussion Forum hosted by UNODC and UNIDO, together with the Permanent Missions of Sweden, Finland, and Norway.
The Vienna Discussion Forum is an annual event to discuss gender equality and the empowerment of women in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals through the lens of the mandates of UNODC and UNIDO. This year, the event will take place on 30 October at 2 PM CETas a hybrid conference taking place both in-person (CR1, VIC, C-Building, 2nd Floor) and online via MS Teams (register here).
The 2024 edition “Why Waste It? Unlocking Opportunities for Environmental Protection and Gender Equality” will explore the intersection of environmental sustainability and gender equality. The event will focus on the gendered dimensions of waste trafficking and waste management, highlighting the opportunities for women’s inclusion in sustainable supply chains and the circular economy. The new UNODC project “Empowering Every Badge,” is dedicated to increasing gender parity and elevating the role of women in law enforcement across Eastern Africa. It addresses crucial topics such as stereotypes and biases, male allyship, and creating enabling working environments.
Law enforcement is still considered a men's world, but to cater to the needs of the whole society, we need both women and men. It’s essential that we address workplace dynamics and engage male allies for transformative change. More information here
