16 January 2018 - Submissions are now open for the academic conference, 'Linking Organized Crime and Cybercrime 2018' to be held from 7-8 June in Chuncheon, South Korea. Hosted by the Hallym University and sponsored by UNODC, the conference aims to produce novel insights into the linkages between organized and cybercrime, particularly in light of technology as an enabler.
The conference will explore insights and produce material for tertiary level teaching as part of the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative's work in develop modules and materials that support academics in their activities related to UNODC mandate areas.
Topics of interest:
Submissions are due by 30 March 2018 with research papers on the following topics being sought (with preference given to case studies):
Organized crime enabled or supported by technology, including but not limited to money laundering, corruption, obstruction of justice, trafficking in drugs as well as participation in an organized criminal group (i.e. how technology enables/facilitates/shapes/changes participation);
Trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants enabled or supported by technology; and
New or emerging types of organized crime in cyberspace, including but not limited to wildlife trafficking, trafficking in cultural property, production and sale of falsified medical products and counterfeit goods such as foodstuffs, clothing, electronics, etc.).

There are no submission, publication or registration fees for the conference.
Submissions should be written in English, and should not be published - or considered for publication - elsewhere. Submissions should not exceed 10 pages, not including references. A cover page is not necessary.

UNODC will cover the cost of participation of the selected authors, in accordance with UN financial rules and regulations (i.e. daily subsistence allowance and economy-class airfare).
