Internship in Project Management

1. Objectives of the programme

The mission of UNODC Indonesia Office is to promote and facilitate actions addressing transnational organised crime, corruption, drugs and terrorism and enhancing the criminal justice system.

The internship programme aims at providing an opportunity for outstanding students to acquire practical experience in UNODC's programme work on drugs and crime, more specifically relating to:

 

Main Activities of the Programme Interns

Upon agreement with the respective supervisor, the internship programme may comprise the following activities:

  • Review relevant information and documents related to UNODC's work in order to acquire a basic understanding of the mandates, strategies, and framework of programmes/activities of the organization
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of meetings, workshops and other related project activities
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentation materials and other relevant documents
  • Collect and analyse data to support the project’s monitoring and evaluation
  • Participate at selected project events, such as trainings, seminars and conferences

2. Eligibility and Qualifications

To be eligible for the internship programmes, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate programme or in the final year of an undergraduate programme in law, criminology, international relations or other relevant fields; or have graduated within one year at the commencement of the internship
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills in English (for both internship programmes) and Bahasa Indonesia (for communication internship)
  • Have a keen interest and knowledge of UNODC's mandate and work on drugs and crime
  • Be available for a minimum duration of two months and a maximum of six months

3. Application Process

To apply for the communication internship, the applicant must submit the following documents to the UNODC Indonesia office by email:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A short essay (about 150-250 words) outlining the applicant's motivation and expectations for the internship
  • A letter of confirmation from the university indicating the applicant's enrolment status or a graduation certificate indicating the degree completion date

While we accept applications on a rolling basis, we will conduct our next review in mid March 2024 and only applications received by 8 March 2024 will be considered.

The subject line of the email should follow this format: "Internship - [Name of Applicant] [Internship Period]". Please send the email to: unodc-indonesiaoffice@un.org.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. The UNODC Indonesia office does not provide any financial or logistical support for the internship. The intern is responsible for obtaining the necessary visa, travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses.
