From July 23 to July 25, 2018 in Dushanbe, a seminar "Improving access for women who use injected drugs to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support" was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime with the financial support of USAID for non-governmental organizations. The non-governmental organizations work directly with users of injected drugs among women and provide them with services for HIV prevention and care.
The seminar was organized according to the guidelines developed by WHO, UNODC and UNAIDS for countries to develop goals in the framework of the concept of universal access to HIV prevention, treatment and care among injectable drugs users.
The trainer of this seminar was Ms. Anna Medvedeva, an expert in HIV / AIDS from Republic of Belarus, who worked extensively in this field in several countries. At the end of the seminar, participants received certificates on HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services for women who use injectable drugs
UNODC provides support to participating countries in improvement of drug dependence treatment in accordance with the "Sustainable Development Goals". UNODC and USAID interact with health authorities and drug control and promote increased participation of civil society in support of the planning and implementation of humane and evidence-based treatments that are appropriate for the individual situation of everyone who needs it.
The "Improving access for women who use injected drugs to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support" seminar was conducted within the framework of Sub-programme 3 - HIV Prevention, Treatment, Reintegration and Prevention for Central Asian States with the support of USAID.
