UNODC participates in the seminar of Senac Paraguay to colebrate the International Day against Corruption
Asuncion, 10 December, 2015 - Advances on transparency and integrity in public institutions were object of discussion by the authorities and public officials in the seminar held by the National Secretariat Against corruption (SENAC), on thursday in Gran Hotel del Paraguay, on the International Day of the Fight Against Corruption.
The High-Level Seminary on Advances in Transparency and Integrity in public institutions was held on Thursday in the presence of hundreds of employees coming from various ministries, departments and public institutions.
The opening remarks were made by the Minister of SENAC, María Soledad Quiñónez Astigarraga, which took the opportunity to talk about the achievements and challenges of the National Anticorruption Department .
Then, it was the turn of the Minister of the Department of Public Function (SFP), Humberto Peralta, who spoke about the progress and challenges of transparency and integrity in public policies for people management.
The Minister of National Information and Communication Department (Senatics), David Ocampos, also explained about applying technology tools for transparency and integrity in public administration.
The minister of the Executive Branch Auditor General (AGPe), Bertha Rodríguez, referred to the management of public resources and their control.
Throughout the seminar were also presented the Reports of Anti-Corruption Portal and an explanation of the function of the SENAC - National Secretariat Against Corruption, both in audiovisual materials.
In the second part of the seminar, there were presentations done by the rector of the National University of Asuncion - Abel Bernal Castillo - and the auditor of the Comptroller General's Office - Roy Rodgers - . The first one commented on the path of reform toward transparency and integrity, while the latter spoke about the challenges inside and outside the Comptroller General of the institution of the Republic.
The day ended with the speeches of the US Agency mission manager for International Development (USAIDS) - Fernando Cossich - the World Bank representative in Paraguay and the coordinator of the National Integrated Plan (PNI) of the United Nations Office on drugs and Crime (UNODC) - Norberto Gamarra.
