Paraguay´s Government and UNODC launch the manual for criminal investigation strategic plan
August 16, 2010. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), together with the Public Ministry, the Supreme Court of Justice and the National Police of Paraguay, will oficially launch on Tuesday the program of technical training and investigation "Strategic Plan Case".
The Plan is a means of coordination and strategic management of the criminal investigation, an effective tool for prosecutors and police work, which allows to set specific short-term guidelines to streamline the criminal investigation of all crimes and foremost in the fight of organized crime, strengthening the administration of Justice in the country. In addition to proper management of the SGP, the cases presented in court will be more organized in order to provide greater transsparency to judicial decisions.
Durign the event the Public Ministry, the Judiciary and the National Police will sign a cooperation agreement for the implementation of the manual, which was conducted with the technical support of UNODC and the sponsorship of the British Embassy.
Over the past five months, UNODC trained a technical team of 16 prosecutors, police and judges on best practices in criminal investigation. The Strategic Plan Manual Case (PEC), according to the characteristics and needs of the country was designed with the professional input and expertise of the technical team. After signing the agreement the team will train 1,000 prosecutors, policeman and judges throughout the country, with the support of experts from UNODC.
At the end of this training the trained policeman, prosecutors and judges will be better prepared to face the challenges of the adversarial system and manage a useful tool for criminal investigations.
The event will be held on Tuesday, 17th, at 9 am in the Auditorium of the Federal Prosecution Office.
