Paraguay and Brazil to discuss cooperation between justice agencies
30 June 2010 - It will take place on Wednesday (30) and Thursday (1), in Iguassu Falls, Brazil, the II International Seminar on Suppression of Organized Crime. The event aims to discuss legal and operational issues about the cooperation between criminal justice system bodies in Brazil and Paraguay. It is a promotion of the Brazilian Federal Police and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The meeting intends to identify problems for bilateral cooperation to expedite the processing of requests for legal assistance in criminal matters, overcoming bureaucratic obstacles and establishing procedures for resolving disputes relating to the area. The Department of Assets Recovery and International Legal Cooperation of the Brazilian National Secretariat of Justice will be responsible for exposing the theme "legal frameworks and mechanisms for cooperation and legal assistance in criminal matters".
