Learn more about the Programme
The Youth Ambassadors Programme is an initiative launched in 2016 by UNODC, in partnership with Instituto CNP Brasil. By developing personal/inter-relational/professional skills and stimulating the inclusive and productive debate, the programme strengthens leadership and activism among young people. Since 2017, the promotion of the Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS) has become the main goal of the Programme, acting as a framework for discussing a range of proposed themes, such as: peace and justice, gender equality, poverty eradication, entrepreneurship, environment, health and well-being, among others.
The first edition of the Program was held in 2016 and trained 22 young people residing in several Administrative Regions of the Federal District, selected among more than 1,000 entries. Two editions of the Programme were executed throughout 2017, in Brasilia and Salvador. Thus, the network created by the Programme has gained notoriety and solidified through the independent action of each young person formed in various social, political and entrepreneurial guidelines.
Similarly, UNODC has engaged its network in important national and international conferences. It is worth mentioning the participation of 5 young people in two editions of the ECOSOC Youth Forum, the most important event of the United Nations dedicated to the young population.
As a platform for youth's inclusion in forums for debate and decision-making, the Programme brings together participants with diverse social, economic, academic, religious, ethnic, sexual orientation and gender identity profiles. In addition, members of indigenous communities, quilombolas, refugees and graduates of the socio-educational system make up the programme's target audience. However, space also welcomes people in social, political and entrepreneurial movements.
