UNODC Iran e-learning session held for law enforcement officers

Tehran, 28 December 2020 – The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the Islamic Republic of Iran in cooperation with the Drug Control Headquarters (DCHQ) successfully utilized UNODC eLearning platform for training 15 officers from Anti-Narcotics Police, Iranian Customs, and DCHQ. The initiative was implemented in view of COVID-19 pandemic in Iran which has limited the physical presence of participants and instructors in public places.
The two e-learning training sessions concentrated on providing the Iranian participants with up-to-date information on matters related to Interdiction of Precursors and Clandestine Laboratories. The session further familiarized the participants with precursors and their use in illegal manufacture of drugs, challenges faced by law enforcements and detection of illegal shipments as well as recognizing key elements for a clandestine laboratory and common sign of activities associated with it.
The training was delivered through utilizing the platform of UNODC Global eLearning programme which is used for online and offline delivery of trainings across the world to Member States in line with the United Nations standards and norms.
The utilization of eLearning in Iran, as part of the activities foreseen under the framework of the UNODC Iran Country Partnership Programme (2015-2021), Sup-programme 1 “Border Management and Illicit Trafficking”, supported through the generous funding of the Government of the Netherlands.
