50 senior and mid-ranking officials from Bangladesh Police's Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) engaged in focused discussions to refine the national community policing strategy and develop a communications framework. Building on a UNODC-led needs assessment, they identified gaps, proposed action points, and strengthened coordination mechanisms to integrate grassroots policing with counterterrorism efforts.
In partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs, a national consultation on GLO.ACT South Asia was convened, bringing together 32 key stakeholders to drive action against human trafficking and migrant smuggling in Bangladesh. The discussions set a strategic roadmap, emphasizing victim identification, data-sharing, survivor-centered approaches and policy alignment
Prison overcrowding is a growing challenge, affecting justice, rehabilitation, and human rights. With the support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, UNODC and the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI), 30 criminal justice actors of Bangladesh were equipped with the knowledge and tools to implement Non-Custodial Measures (NCM) effectively. This two-day training brought together judges, prosecutors, prison and probation officials, and legal aid experts to explore practical solutions that reduce unnecessary detention and support rehabilitation.

India: Promoting peace, lawfulness and inclusion through education and youth engagement
In support of UNODC's RiseUp4Peace, students from 23 schools across 15 countries championed SDG16 action through SDGs2SaveTheWorld, a multi-school initiative led by DPS Lava Nagpur, DPS Nashik, DPS Varanasi and DPS Hinjawadi Pune. From exchanging ideas to analyzing real-world data, participating students engaged in ideating creative solutions advocating a fairer, more peaceful world. In New Delhi, educators and students of the Birla Vidya Niketan showcased “a year of whole-of-school efforts” on promoting peace, lawfulness and inclusion through arts, science, sports and tech.
India: Enhancing knowledge sharing and cooperation to counter Trafficking in Persons
At the South Asia Consultation on Promoting Safe Migration to Combat Trafficking, UNODC South Asia joined GIZ, Just Rights for Children and Association for Voluntary Action to discuss trends, advance solutions and strengthen cooperation. UNODC shared insights from the latest Global Report on Trafficking in Persons, highlighting the increasing sophistication and complexity of trafficking networks.
UNODC South Asia, supporting IOM India’s lead, joined hands with UN-Habitat India and key civil society organizations in India’s Voluntary National Review on Migrants and Urban Poor. By addressing governance, inclusion and vulnerabilities, the findings will contribute to India’s official Sustainable Development Goals report led by NITI Aayog and the United Nations in India, with focus on ensuring that no one is left behind.
