India: UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia presents Official Credentials to Government of India
UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia, Mr. Marco Teixeira presented his Credentials to Mr. Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. UNODC is committed to support and work with the Government of India in strengthening the rule of law, security, justice, health and in ensuring that no one is left behind.
India: UNODC presents trends in terror financing at crime at ‘No Money for Terror’ Ministerial Conference chaired and hosted by Government of India
UNODC presented international good practices in counter terrorism and emerging trends in terror financing and crime at the 3rd ‘No Money for Terror’ Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing hosted and chaired by the Government of India. The event was opened by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with participation of 450 senior government delegates from 70 nations. UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia Mr. Marco Teixeira and Chief of Terrorism Branch, Mr. Masoud Karimipour participated in the conference, aimed at advancing global cooperation.
India: Expert Forum calls for stronger community efforts, policy interventions on health and rights to enable a drug-free childhood
Calling for a ‘drug free childhood,’ UNODC joined hands with the Fourth Wave Foundation and the World Federation against Drugs to convene an international forum in Kerala, to strengthen joint efforts by civil society, governments, health organisations, policymakers and communities to address drug use. The forum called for stronger community efforts and policy interventions to promote a health and human rights-based approach against drug use.
Bhutan: UNODC builds stakeholder capacities and strengthens public awareness to prevent and counter Trafficking in Persons
A series of two-day trainings on countering Trafficking in Persons were organised in collaboration with the Department of Law and Order, Bhutan, for representatives from local government, frontline organisations, health workers and civil society in the Samdrup Jongkhar, Lhuntse and Mongar districts. Young people and educators in schools were also engaged through special awareness programs on preventing human trafficking.
Maldives: UNODC launches new initiative to address the risk of terrorism and increase security
A symbolic opening ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Male to mark the launch of UNODC’s forthcoming project “Support to Addressing the Risk of Terrorism and to Increasing Security in the Maldives”. The project will be launched at the beginning of 2023 with financial assistance from the European Union.
Sri Lanka: UNODC promotes knowledge sharing among community groups, government officials and criminal justice practitioners on access to justice and fundamental rights
UNODC delivered two focused capacity-building workshops for 45 state officials and 50 lawyers in Triconmalee and Pasikuda districts (Eastern Province) of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Legal Aid Commission. The trainings were designed to enhance understanding of applicable legal frameworks and provisions to protect fundamental rights.

India: UNODC drug law enforcement trainings enhance official capacities on investigations, prosecutions and legal frameworks
UNODC organised two capacity-building workshops in New Delhi for senior and operational-level officials of law enforcement agencies from Northeast India, the Railway Protection Force and the Indian Coast Guard. Modules were focused on legal frameworks, investigations and prosecutions, search and seizures, synthetic drugs and forensic testing, among others.

India: UNODC, Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (Vellore) avenues to strengthen health in prison settings in India
Under the joint Unified Budget, Results and Accountability Framework (UBRAF) mechanism, UNODC's Criminal Justice Expert Seema Joshi Arya called on Mr. M Chandrasekhar, Director, Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (APAC), Vellore to discuss prison health interventions. The importance of capacity building of prison staff to strengthen healthcare in prisons, in line with the Nelson Mandela Rules, was emphasised.

Nepal: UNODC educates vulnerable groups in prison settings on HIV/AIDS prevention, harm reduction and social reintegration
Under the joint Unified Budget, Results and Accountability Framework (UBRAF) mechanism, UNODC conducted an educational awareness program on harm reduction, HIV prevention, testing services and social reintegration for women who use drugs for female inmates and staff at the Central Prison of Kathmandu.
