VIENNA, Austria – March 2015: During their 58th session from 9 to 17 March 2015, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs decided to place 10 NPS under international control. Taking into account a request made by the United Kingdom regarding mephedrone and following recommendations by the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence, 10 substances were added to the relevant schedules of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 as amended by the 1972 Protocol and the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971. In addition, the Commission decided not to schedule 1,4-butanediol and GBL. The Commission postponed its discussion on a request made by China to place ketamine under schedule IV of the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971 to allow more time to compile information.
