Bogotá, COLOMBIA – February 2017: From 1 to 2 February 2017, the first regional meeting on new psychoactive substances (NPS) in the Western Hemisphere is held in Bogotá, Colombia. This UNODC meeting is attended by technical experts from countries and organisations in the region as well as international experts concerned by the emergence and use of NPS.
Experts at the meeting are discussing regional and international experiences in addressing the challenge of NPS. Key topics include public health risks, early warning systems, strategies and regulations, and activities to reduce supply and demand. More particularly, the meeting will provide an opportunity to take stock of the regional NPS situation and identify options for response to address the problems associated with their manufacture, trafficking and use.
