PUNE, India - August 2016: Pune customs seized 159.1 kilograms of mephedrone hydrochloride worth 25 million Indian Rupees (approx. 374,755 USD) on 1 August 2016. Four individuals, including one foreign national, were intercepted at the factory premises of Samarth Laboratories in Pune.
Mephedrone is under international control since 2015, when it was placed under Schedule II of the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971. In addition, mephedrone has recently been added to the schedule of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 in India.
